You’ve downloaded the mindfulness apps. You’ve started the gratitude journal. You’ve promised yourself more sleep, more steps, more water, more breaks…
And somehow – you’re still exhausted.
You’ve probably seen the memes all over socials. You know the ones where people look completely frazzled trying to make wellbeing a priority!
If your self-care routine feels like another thing on your to-do list, you’re not alone.
October is Mental Health Month, and we’re inviting you to step off the hamster wheel and take a breath.
Self-care isn’t a checklist; it’s a choice.
It’s the tiny pauses between the noise. It’s giving yourself permission to rest, reflect, and reset. Not because you’ve earned it, but because you need it.
So instead of chasing balance, what if you just created space? Space to slow down, to feel and listen to what your mind and body are trying to tell you.
This month, make self-care simple again. Start by noticing the signs so you can press pause, refill and reset.
And to help you with that, we have a fantastic tool.
When self-care gets heavy – try this instead!
If your version of self-care feels heavy, you’re not alone. At Bounce, we believe wellbeing doesn’t have to be another “to-do”.
In this month’s blog, Maria helps you discover Three Good Things, a simple, science-backed practice to help you refocus, reset, and find lightness in the little moments that matter.
What are you doing about wellbeing?
In our sector, we talk a lot about wellbeing.
It’s on meeting agendas, embedded in strategies, and printed on posters across office walls. But here’s the catch. Sometimes, the way we approach wellbeing can actually exacerbate the problem.
We’re encouraging our teams to meditate, move, and manage stress, but we’re still rewarding overwork, measuring productivity in terms of hours, and treating rest as a luxury. When wellbeing becomes another task to tick off, we’re creating more pressure.
In employment services, where people are constantly caring for others, the emotional load is heavy. Many frontline workers tell us they feel guilty taking breaks or setting boundaries. That’s not resilience. That’s survival.
True wellbeing is a practice that is built into the culture. The most effective leaders are those who make space for their people. Space to pause, to breathe and have honest conversations about capacity, not just capability.
This Mental Health Month, we want you to challenge the idea that self-care is a side project. When we design systems that support energy, empathy, and recovery, we create teams that thrive!
Wellbeing shouldn’t be another job. It should make the job better.

We’ve been gatekeeping this for a while, and now we can finally share!
Maria attended an inspirational summit at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, last week because…
Bounce Global is a partner in an incredibly exciting new project called PATH!
The two-day summit brought together over 80 leaders from MIT, GSU, Community Colleges, industry groups and government agencies with a focus on co-designing pathways for AI training & hiring.
PATH’s vision: “𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢’𝘴 𝘈𝘐 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘨𝘢𝘱 𝘣𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘸, 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴. Bounce will bring the human skills element to PATH, helping it to scale and increase engagement across the USA.
We’re excited to share more information in the coming months as the project takes off!
2026 public programs – book now!
Here’s our public program calendar for 2026. Start planning today by talking to Chris or Kelly about what programs you’d like to include in your PD schedule for the upcoming year.
The Essential Guide to Self-care is your go-to guide to help you understand more about wellbeing and how to embed simple habits to keep you focused and energised when it comes to taking care of yourself.
Our go-to tool for practising daily self-care – “THREE GOOD THINGS” Worksheet. Use this tool with your clients as well – it’s great for helping them find positive aspects in their lives to focus on.
I used to think self-care was something I had to fit in.
Bed early, healthy food, meditation, journalling, a gym session, all jam-packed into an already overflowing calendar.
And when I didn’t tick them off, I’d feel guilty… like I’d failed at looking after myself. Sound familiar?
It took me a while to realise that self-care isn’t about doing more. It’s about being more present. It’s not another list of habits or hacks. It’s the way you treat yourself in the everyday moments.
For me, that means checking in with myself as often as I check my emails.
It’s those quiet moments between meetings, a walk around the block, a deep breath before the next conversation, or a cup of tea in silence that help me come back to centre.
I’ve learned that resilience isn’t built in the rush – it’s built in the recharge. So this month, I’m reminding myself (and you) that slowing down is progress. If your version of self-care feels heavy, maybe it’s time to redefine it. Make it simpler, smaller and softer. You don’t need the perfect routine. You just need permission to rest, to reset, to be.
Here’s to making wellbeing work for you, not the other way around.
